Four persons from Tripura, including three traders, have been kidnapped by the insurgents of the banned NLFT from Tuipuibari in neighbouring Mizoram, police said today.

Ultras of National Liberation Front of Tripura stopped a passenger jeep at Tuipuibari, a tribal hamlet under Phayleng police station of Mamit district in neighbouring Mizoram at gun point last evening and kidnapped the four persons including the driver of the jeep, a police officer said.

A team of Tripura police from Kanchanpur sub-division of North Tripura district rushed to the spot.

Police said, as the Bangladesh border was not very far from the area, a BSF post was also set up in the area.

Mizoram police, BSF and Tripura police have launched a search operation in the area.
