4 killed, 20 injured in road accident in Andhra Pradesh

Four pilgrims were killed today and 20 others sustained injuries after a truck in which they were travelling overturned and fell into a culvert near A Koduru village in the district, police said.

The mishap occurred in the wee hours when a group of 24 pilgrims were returning to Vizianagaram after taking part in Godavari Pushkaram at Rajahmundry, Police Inspector Chodavarm, S Kiran Kumar said.

The driver lost control of the vehicle after which it fell into a culvert, he said.

The deceased have been identified as K Sanyasamma (53), Reddi Demuduamma (60), Reddi Sanyasamma (62) and Reddi Atchayyamma (60).
 

Some of the injured have been admitted to a local hospital while others have been shifted to a private hospital here, police said, adding investigations are underway.
