4 killed, 25 injured in road accident in Gujarat

Four persons were killed and 25 others injured today, when a tractor carrying them turned turtle after it was hit by a truck near Haripura village in Kheda district, police said.

The mishap occurred in the wee hours on Dakor-Kapadvanj road when the victims, hailing from Singrot village of Vadodara district, were going to pay homage at a temple in Kathlal tehsil of Kehda district," Thasra taluka police sub inspector V G Prajapti said.

The tractor was hit from rear-side by an over-speeding truck after which it overturned and fell in a roadside pit, the officer said.

The deceased have been identified as Bhupat Chavda (45), Pradip Padhiyar (45) and Arjun Ramsinh Parmar (40) and Rupsinh Ravji Chauhan (45), he said.
 

The injured were initially given treatment in a referral hospital of Dakor town and then were admitted to different hospitals in Vadodara, Nadiad and Ahmedabad, he said.

The truck-driver is on the run after the incident, Prajapati said, adding a case of murder due to negligence and rash driving has been registered against him.
