4 killed, 3 injured in Pak militant attacks

Four persons, including a police officer, have been killed and at least three others injured in two separate attacks by unidentified militants in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

An assistant sub-inspector (ASI), his two brothers and a relative was killed yesterday when unidentified militants hurled a hand-grenade at his home in Dera Ismail Khan.

The attack targeted the house of ASI Qaiser Jahan in Dera Ismail Khan district.

In another incident today, at least three policemen were targeted while they were on a patrol in the same province.

Unidentified militants launched a rocket at them, injuring the three police officials in Girah Mastan area of Dera Ismail Khan district bordering South Waziristan agency.
 

The injured have been admitted to the district headquarters hospital.

The province has often witnessed violent militant attacks since the homegrown Islamist insurgency rose in 2007.

A recent attack on a army-run school in the provincial capital Peshawar by Pakistani Taliban claimed nearly 150 lives, mostly that of children.
