4 killed, 3 injured in separate road mishaps in Jammu

Four persons, including a retired police head constable, were killed and three others injured in three separate road accidents here in the region today, a police spokesman said.

Mohammad Rafiq, a retired police head constable, was killed when the motorcycle he was riding collided with an oil tanker in Nowshera area of Rajouri district. A pedestrian, identified as Khadam Hussain, was also injured in the incident, he said.

The oil tanker was seized and the driver arrested by the police, the spokesman said.

In another incident, Pankaj Kumar who was riding a motorcycle, was killed after being hit by car coming from an opposite direction in the Siot area of the district, he said.
 

In the third incident, two persons were killed and two others injured when a tipper truck they were travelling in fell into a gorge in the Mendhar area of Poonch district, the spokesman said.

He said cases have been registered in all the incidents and investigations initiated.
