4 locals arrested for Kutba killings

Four persons have been arrested in connection with communal killings at Kutba village here during the episode of violence which had erupted in the area early last month, police said.

Amidst protests by fellow villagers, the four locals from the Jat-dominated Kutba village, identified as Kunwarpal, Gaurav, Nitin and Ravi, were yesterday arrested for their alleged role in the violence.

Eight members of the minority community were killed and their houses burnt by a mob on September 8 at the village which lies in the Shahpur area as violent clashes raged in the district.

Cases have been registered against 110 people so far in connection with the violence in Muzaffarnagar district which left 62 people dead and rendered about 40,000 people homeless.
