4-member team to probe Lucknow Metro mishap

A four-member team was constituted today to probe the causes that led to the mishap at the ongoing Lucknow Metro project which left three persons injured.

The team set up by Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan comprises senior officials of Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC), including its Director Daljeet Singh.

It has been asked to submit its report in 15 days, an official spokesman said here.

Ranjan, who held a meeting in the wake of the collapse of cross arm of the metro yesterday, directed setting up of an emergency response team comprising officials of LMRC, Larsen and Toubro construction firm, the District Magistrate and the Senior SP to promptly deal with any such eventuality in future.
 

Taking a serious note of the incident, he ordered that two senior security officials of Lucknow Metro and L and T should properly inspect the ongoing works and shuttering of the metro project in two days and ensure no such incident in future.

The Chief Secretary warned that responsibility will be fixed on officials concerned in case of recurrence of such a happening and they will be sent to jail.

He said there will be no compromise with safety and quality in the ongoing works which will be continuously monitored by Lucknow Metro officials, besides those from L and T and stressed both will have to take joint responsibility by signing the check list.

Ranjan told the L and T officials, who took part in today's meeting, that they should independently constitute a team of senior officials and fix responsibility by probing the construction work and safety-related issues in thw wake of mishap and inform him about the same.

Three labourers were injured, one of them seriously, when a shuttering between two under construction pillars of the Lucknow Metro collapsed.
