Four sisters died of suspected food poisoning at Masudanpur village in Munger district, a police officer today said.
The incident took place under Asarganj police station and the deceased have been identified as Champa Kumari (12), Swati Kumari (10), Suman Kumari (8) and Kalpana Kumari (5).
Asarganj Station House Officer (SHO) Dinesh Kumar said, "The girls ate some food last evening which was cooked during the day. Soon afterwards they started complaining about feeling unwell. Their condition deteriorated rapidly and all of them died one after another. Kalpana died around 3 AM."

The SHO said the girls are daughters of one Sanjay Tanti, and lived with their grandfather and a physically challenged uncle in the village. Their parents and the eldest sister work as labourers in Punjab.
Police have registered a case of unnatural death and sent the bodies for post-mortem. Investigations have begun.
The SHO added that post-mortem report will reveal whether there has been any foul play in the incident.
