In a suspected child trafficking case, four minor girls from Wakro area of Lohit district were missing for the past six days, police said today.
It was not yet clear whether they had been together when they had gone missing on March 21 evening.
Their family members feared that the girls in the age group of 12 to 16 could be victims of human trafficking, police said.
A case has been registered at Tezu police station under IPC sections 363 (kidnapping) and 367 (kidnapping to subject person to grievous hurt, slavery) and investigation was lodged.
"We request the investigating team to probe every possible angle in their effort to trace out the whereabouts of the missing girls to ensure their safe return to their respective homes," the Cultural and Literary Society of Mishmi (CALSOM), a prominent social organization of the Mishmi community, said in a statement.
