Karnataka government is planning to set up four more 'Karnataka German Multi Skill Development Centres' in the state soon, Labour minister P T Parameshwara Naik said here today.
The four centres would be in Hubli, Mangaluru, Ballari, Belagavi, in addition to the existing ones in Bengaluru and Kalaburagi, he said.
The primary objective of the centres was to conduct broad based multi disciplinary programmes in various industrial and technical fields. These centres are directed towards development of skills and trades, the minister said.
Eighty per cent of the project cost was being funded by the German government, while Karnataka was meeting the balance 20 per cent of the cost of setting up each centre, Naik said.
Naik said that he had come to Puducherry to hold discussions with his counterpart P Rajavelu and acquaint himself with various labour welfare measures, particularly that relating to construction labourers.
He also claimed that Karnataka has registered a record of covering 63 lakh poor families under Rashtriya Swasthiya Bima Yojana, aimed at providing cashless health insurance facility for 1.08 crore Below Poverty Line families under this scheme. "So far 63 lakh families have been brought under the scheme," he said.
Rajavelu apprised him through power point presentation of various labour welfare measures and schemes operated in the Union Territory.
