Four members of a family allegedly committed suicide by jumping into Indira Gandhi canal in Jaisalmer district, police said today.

Tanerao Singh (40), his wife Kishan Kanwar (30), daughter Chanchal Kanwar (12) and son Ganpat Singh (8) allegedly jumped into the canal near 1266 RD area, nearly 6 km from their Satyaya village, late last night, they said.

Three bodies were fished out of the canal and were handed over to their kin while search is on for Ganpat's body, Assistant Sub Inspector of Nachna police station Girwar Singh said.

"Prima facie, it is a case of suicide and family dispute is suspected to be the reason behind it," he said.
