Four activists of the proscribed People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI), including suspected Area Commander Maina Gope, were killed in an encounter with security personnel in the Naxalism-affected Khunti district today, a senior police officer said.
Superintendent of Police Ashwini Kumar Sinha told PTI that based on a tip-off that a group of PLFI ultras would arrive at Palsi village under Karra police station, a team of security personnel were sent to apprehend them.
On seeing the security forces, the PLFI activists started firing at them, prompting them to retaliate, he said.

Four PLFI ultras were killed in the encounter and all the bodies have been recovered, he added.
Four firearms including an INSAS rifle, a .315 bore rifle and a country-made pistol were recovered from their possession, he said, adding that a search operation has been launched in the area following the incident.
