Four policemen from Surendranagar district were suspended for allegedly being in regular contact with handlers of gambling dens.

"Four police personnel have been served their suspension notices. They have been put under suspension till the inquiry against them is completed," Surendranagar SP Raghvendra Vats told PTI.

"The police officials were allegedly found to be in regular contact with handlers of gambling dens....They were suspended from duty," Vatsa said.

"Being in touch with those who gamble may be understandable as sometimes friends may indulge in gambling. But to be in regular touch with gambling den handlers and with those running these hideouts is unacceptable," he said.

The four policemen served with suspension notices are Lok Rakshak Dal constable Ravi Kumar Algotar and constable Pranji Nandesariya posted at Joravarnagar police station, constable Savji Dafda, who reports to the Deputy Superintendent of Police office, and constable Hitendrasinh Chudasama posted at Surendranagar city police station.
