4 policemen suspended in Congress office attack case

Four policemen, including a police station in charge, were today suspended on charges of laxity in connection with attack at Congress headquarters here which left more than six people injured.

In charge of Hussainganj Kotwali Ram Pradip Yadav, Kila chowki in charge Ashok Ojha, head constable Ashok Yadav and constable Vinay Kumar have been placed under suspension in connection with yesterday's incident of attack at the Congress office, Senior Superintendent of Police Pravin Kumar said.

Meanwhile, former MP Ganga Charan Rajput, who has been charged by the Congress for instigating the attack through his son, in a statement said that he had nothing to do with it.
 

"I have no role in yesterday's incident and I condemn it.. though my son Brijbhushan Rajput alias Guddu Rajput's name has come up but his path and mine for the rights of the Bundelkhand region are totally different", Rajput said.

"I have nothing to do with the Bundelkhand Adhikar Sena. Till it is fighting for problems of power, water and roads in the region in a peaceful manner it has my support but cannot support any violent action of theirs.. I condemn it in strongest of words", he said.

Congress leader and chairman of communication department Satyadev Tripathi had alleged that the attack was carried out at the instigation of Ganga Charan Rajput.

A total of 18 people were arrested for the attack which had left over six people, including party spokesman Dwijendra Tripathi, injured.

Yesterday, a mob of around 200 had attacked the Congress office and indulged in vandalism damaging vehicles and property at the party office.
