A gang of four robbers, who used to drug and rob victims of their money and valuables, has been nabbed in Delhi.

Babloo (32), Laxman Sahani (38), Rajan (38) and Rakesh Kumar (23) were arrested from Dwarka area yesterday by the Delhi police Crime Branch after a trap was laid for them.

A country-made pistol, three live cartridges, a car, two strips of tablets used as sedative were recovered from their possession, a senior police officer said.

Describing their modus operandi, the officer said after identifying a gullible passenger who was looking for some transport at a railway station or bus stand, one of them would pose as a commuter and become friendly with him. He would pretend that he was also going to the same destination as that of the victim.

Meanwhile, the others would come in the car and offer lift to both of them. Once the victim was in the car, he would be offered a drink laced with sedatives and would become unconscious. The gang would then rob him of his money and valuables and dump him at a lonely place, the officer said.

Also, if the victim refused the drink, as a plan B, they would say that they were carrying important correspondence and no one in the car is allowed to have in possession any cash and valuables.

They would give him an envelope and asked him to keep all his cash and valuables in the envelope which would be tactfully swapped with a similar envelope containing bundle of papers, and would be later handed over to the victim. They would then drop the victim at a destined place and flee, the officer said.

Police said that 13 cases of drugging and cheating registered at police stations in Kapashera, Kotwali, Burari, Kamla Market, Sarita Vihar, Delhi Cantonment and Govindpuri have been solved.
