In a bid to impart skill to teachers in tribal dominated KBK (Koraput-Balangir- Kalahandi) region, Odisha government today decided to upgrade four Secondary Training Schools to Block Institute of Education and Training (BITE).

"Opening of the opportunities to backward communities in the educationally backward districts is essential," School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra.

The Teachers Education Approval Board (TEAB) has given clearance for proposed upgradation of the existing institutions from ST Schools to BITE, he said.

Such upgradation needs creation of 35 posts -- 26 teachers, four librarians, one senior clerk, four computer operator-cum-store keepers -- with the abolition of junior clerk Posts in Kunarmunda school for the four institutions.

The four schools are Government Scheduled Tribe School at Gorumahisiani Mayurbhanj, Govt ST School at Kuanrmunda Sundargarh, Govt ST School Gunupur Rayagada and Govt ST School at Umarkot in Nabarangapur district.
