Four Taliban militants today surrendered to the security forces in Pakistan's restive northwestern tribal region.

"The terrorists surrendered in Kalaya in Orakzai agency because security forces have taken complete control of the area, and there is nowhere to hide," security sources said.

They belong to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan's Aslam Faruqi group.

Orakzai is one of the country's seven semi-autonomous tribal regions in the northwest, where the Taliban and other militants were said to have strongholds before the start of Operation 'Zarb-e-Azb' in June last year.

The army launched the operation to wipe out militant bases from the area to end the bloody decade-long Islamist insurgency that has cost Pakistan thousands of lives.
