Four vehicles, including two cars, were gutted in a fire that broke out in a tin shed near a town square at Chakan, about 40 km from here, police said today.

The vehicles burnt in the fire yesterday were two cars and two 2-wheelers, according to a complaint lodged by one Suraj Pardeshi with the Chakan police.

"The fire appeared to have occurred due to a short circuit and no foul play is suspected", Nayak Havildar Subhash Pawar of Chakan police station said.

The incident caused a flutter in the area as it came close on the heels of the mass torching of about 85 vehicles in the parking lots of different residential societies in Sun City area here on last Sunday.
