Four young footballers from West Bengal will visit Germany early next month to participate in a session with main players of Eintracht Frankfurt, a famous club.
While Loknath Mondal and Seikh Rintu were spotted drom Kolkata Police Friendship Cup, Manish Subba and Debkumar Khirali were chosen from Community Relationship Development Tournament in Darjeeling and Jangalmahal Cup tournament, respectively, Commissioner of Kolkata Police Rajeev Kumar said at a press conference here.
The young footballers will leave for Germany on November 6 and return on November 13, Kumar said.
During the tour they will undergo a four-day training session and a footballing session with main players of Eintracht Frankfurt besides watching a match between Eintracht Frankfurt and Shalke in Bundesliga on November 12.
"Football bridges cultures, languages and different countries. I am pleased that these boys will now get a chance to train with one of the famous football teams. It would be a very rewarding experience for them. I wish them a happy future in soccer," German Consul General in Kolkata Dr Michael Feiner said.
The four players, aged between 15 and 20, were also handed over playing kits by Eintracht representatives and formal invitation letters on the occasion.
The CP said that as part of continuing exchanges between German and Kolkata police, 20 junior players from different parts of the state will be trained for three years at a football academy in Alipore Bodyguard Lines by German coaches in 2019 and given similar exposure trips.
