A four-year-old boy died of burns while his sister and mother sustained severe burn injuries after a fire broke out in a house in west Delhi's Nihal Vihar area.
The incident occurred yesterday at around 7 PM after the 'angithi' on which 25-year-old Sanjeela was cooking food caught fire which quickly spread to the nearby sofa where her children, Ashim (4) and Aaliya (two and half-years old), were seated, police said.
"All of them were initially admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital but were referred to Safdarjung Hospital. Ashim succumbed to his injuries early morning today while Sanjeela and Aaliya are stated to be in a critical condition," a senior police official said.

"Sanjeela has suffered 70 per cent burns and Aaliya suffered 80 per cent burns," he added.
The deceased's father, Manish, works as a painter and wasn't at home during the fire. The family was staying in a rented accommodation on the first floor of a house in Nihal Vihar, police said.
