A four-year-old female leopard that had struck fear among villagers of Perumthatta and nearby areas in the district for the last one week by killing their domesticated animals has been trapped, forest officials said.
A trap was laid on complaints by villagers and the feline was trapped at Melpaddi, South Wayanad Forest Divisional Officer Abdul Azeez said.
The leopard has been brought to Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University campus at Pookode for medical examination, he said.
The animal would later be sent to Thiruvananthapuram zoo, he added.
