The Jammu and Kashmir government will plant around 40,000 Chinar saplings across Jammu region during the monsoon season.
Addressing a gathering at deer park in Manda yesterday, on the occasion of World Environment Day, state minister for Forests, Environment and Ecology Chaudhary Lal Singh had said his department has geared up to plant tress so that every open space has green cover.
The state government is working under mission mode for broader understanding of climate change and its effect in the state, he said, adding, "The forest department would plant 40,000 chinar saplings across Jammu region this monsoon."
Singh said massive programmes for more effective management and harnessing State's natural resources is also slated to be launched soon.
