: The Mahila Court here today sentenced a man to 40 days imprisonment for abetting the suicide of his wife three years ago.
The prosecution case was that Ramachandran married Paramehwari in 2011 and was constantly harassing her to bring more dowry. Unable to bear it, she jumped to her death from a nearby dam on Februry 24, 2012.
Judge M Sarvamangala, who delivered the verdict, also slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 on the man, failing which he would have to undergo one year imprisonment.
