40 kg opium seized in Rajasthan, three held

Three alleged smugglers were arrested with 40 Kg opium here Wednesday, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team intercepted three persons on the Bikaner-Suratgarh national highway and recovered 40 Kg opium from their possession, Bikaner SP Pradeep Mohan Sharma said.

The accused were identified as Ajayab Singh (35), Kashmir Singh (35) of Punjab and Mada Singh (64) of Haryana, police said.

A case was registered against the accused under sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) Act, they said.
