40 persons were arrested today in connection with killing of a person in a witch hunting case in Sonitpur case.
According to police officials, one person was killed on Tuesday framing him to be a 'witch' at Gunjuli village under Chariduar police station in the district.
The deceased has been identified as Bogiram Gunju (40), he added.
Investigating the matter, police arrested 40 persons today from the village.
Police said these people are suspected to be either direct or indirectly involved in the murder.
Further investigation is on to ascertain the involvement of more people, the official said.
