40% seats in buses to be reserved special category commuters

Forty per cent seats in buses plying through Himachal Pradesh and surrounding areas would be reserved for special category commuters, which includes senior citizens and women.

Seats would be reserved for senior citizens, patients suffering from cancer, physical disabled commuters and women in Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) and private buses from December 20, an official spokesman said here.

The decision was taken in a meeting presided by Ritesh Chauhan, Director, Transport held here today.

He said operators would mark the seats for special category commuters on the left side of the buses and ensure that the instructions are followed in letter and spirit.
 

Senior officers of the state government and representatives of private bus operators union were also present in the meeting.
