Students of a primary government school in Dharpa village were given iron capsules by a government doctor at Primary Health Centre under the School Health Programme, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Deepak Ohri said.

About 40 students started vomiting and complained of pain in the abdomen soon after taking the iron capsules.

Out of which, nine students were admitted to a government hospital of nearby Khurja town and were discharged after being administered a digene injection, he said.

The nine students complained of nausea, the CMO said adding, the children fell ill due to formation of acid after taking iron tablets.

2,150 schools of the district were covered under the school health programme, which commenced on January 16, he said.

No other complaint has been received in the district, the CMO said. PTI Corr
