A 40-year-old businessman was shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-borne youths in broad daylight when he was sitting in his parked car at busy Sohna road near a popular shopping mall here today.

Rajje Yadav, a resident of Tikli village who ran property and liquor businesses, was fired at from a close range by some youths on a motorcycle, Gurgaon Police Commissioner Navdeep Singh Virk said.

Yadav, who was also an active supporter of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), was rushed to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Heavy traffic was witnessed throughout the day at the spot where the shooting took place.

Police suspect that the murder was committed due to rivalry on some other reasons.

"The culprits had come only to commit the murder and not for looting purpose," Virk said.
