A 40-year-old woman was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Patamda, about 25 km from here, police said today.
According to an FIR lodged by the woman, her neighbour Nath Pramanik raped her and later assaulted her along with his father Amuliya Pramanik last night, Officer-in-charge of Patamda police station Sritidhar Mahato said.
On being informed, a police team rushed to the spot and sent the injured victim to a nearby hospital, he said, adding, the doctors referred her to M G M Hospital today.
Both the families had quarrels in the past and complaints were also lodged in this connection, Mahato said.
The families were having a long-standing dispute but we have sent the woman for medical check-up following the rape charge, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Amit Kumar said.
However, no arrest was made yet as police is investigating the matter, he added.
