The AAP today alleged that Lt Governor Najeeb Jung was not relieving around 4000-4500 home guards, which the Delhi government wants to deploy as marshals in DTC buses and threatened protests outside the Raj Bhavan if the demand is not met.

The party said the government has "located" around 4000-4500 people attached to the state administration and wants to deploy them in the DTC buses as it is a part of the 70 points programme promised by the AAP during the assembly polls.

"Everyone knows what work these home guards do and where are they deployed. They are deployed to do different work other than their core job. The Delhi government had written a letter to the LG related to the issue in May and June, but there was no response.

"After this the Delhi unit of the AAP also requested for time with the LG. But there has been no response from him. We will wait for him for a week. If he does not respond, then we will hold agitations outside the Raj Bhavan," party's Delhi unit secretary Dilip Pandey told a news conference.

Senior party leader Sanjay Singh said the issue of women's security was also a part of its 70-point programme and if it is not met that then volunteers from its women, students and youth wings will protest against the LG.

"Why is the BJP trying to settle scores with the AAP for its defeat in Delhi? This is an important issue and it should not do politics over the matter," Singh said.

Responding to a question on the ongoing Sushma Swaraj-Lalit Modi controversy, Singh said the entire episode also brings Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley under the scanner.

"Arun Jaitley was the member of the governing council of the IPL when Lalit Modi was its chariman. Why did he turn a blind eye on the entire issue?

The matter also shows the internal rift within the BJP," Singh said.
