The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has received 409 complaints of subletting of government flats to unauthorised persons so far this year, the Rajya Sabha was told today.
"Some incidents of subletting of government residential flats have come to the notice. During the year 2018 (upto July 23), 409 complaints of alleged subletting of government quarters were received, out of which 242 have been inspected so far, in which 100 cases are believed to be sublet," Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said in a written reply.
Rajya Sabha member B K Hariprasad had asked whether the Centre was aware that government residential flats or premises were given on rent to non-government employees.
