41-year-old man latest dengue victim, cases over 4000

A 41-year-old man from Rohini has become the latest victim of dengue in the national capital as the number of cases crossed the 4000-mark.

Neeraj Singh from Paschim Vihar in Rohini Zone, where maximum cases (796) have been reported till date, died on September 21, a report released by the MCD said today.

With this, the death toll now stands at six while six other persons have been put under the suspected dengue death category by the municipal bodies.

4,034 cases have been reported till today with North Delhi itself registering over 1,700 cases, the report said.

The national capital had witnessed a large number of dengue cases in 2010 with over 6,000 cases being reported during the Commonwealth Games. In 2008, over 1,300 cases were registered, 1,153 in 2009, over 1,100 cases in 2011 and 2,093 last year.
 

While figures for various corporations are North (1,770) South (1,210) and East (939), 85 cases were reported from regions in Delhi outside the jurisdiction of MCD and 30 cases in other category.

A total of 40 cases have been reported from other states.
