Disheartened over his cancer diagnosis, a 42-year-old man allegedly committed suicide today in Rajendra Nagar colony in Sahibabad area here, police said.

Anoop Srivastav, an Odisha native and a designer by profession, was depressed due to his divorce and was diagnosed with cancer a few days ago, they said.

"Parijat was found hanging in his room," said ASP Anoop Srivastav.

Police also recovered a suicide note from Parijat's room in which he has expressed hopelessness over his cancer treatment.

"I am committing suicide because you will spend a lot of money to cure my disease but your efforts can give me life for (just a) few years which will be more painful for me," the suicide note reads.

Police have sent the body for autopsy.
