The deceased was identified as M Duryodhan who had sustained critical injuries in the violence at the village under Jarada police station jurisdiction on Sunday, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Chikiti B K Nayak said.

The Police found him severely injured at Arakhapadara, about 2 km from Ambagaon and 45 km from here. He was first referred to Patrapur hospital, then to MKCG Medical College and Hospital here, after which he was shifted to Visakhapatnam, where he died during treatment, the SDPO said.

Security has been tightened in the trouble-torn village following the death of the man.

Around 40 residential houses were set ablaze when members of two rival groups allegedly hurled bombs at each other and set afire the thatched houses in Ambagoan village.

The SDPO said 22 persons have been arrested from both the groups so far. Raids were conducted to nab more persons involved in the incident. Almost all male persons however fled from the village after the incident.

"Forces were deployed in the village. No fresh incident has been reported since then," he said.

At least two others who had been injured on Sunday are undergoing treatment at Jarada hospital, police said.
