436 cartons of foreign liquor seized

As many as 436 cartons of different brands of foreign liquor, procured without paying the duties, have been seized from servant quarters of the Russian Information and Cultural Centre here by the Excise Intelligence Bureau (EIB) of Delhi government.

During the raid conducted yesterday, EIB seized 448 cartons of foreign liquor, 12 of which were recovered from a car intercepted by the raiding team near Tilak Marg police station.

"436 cartons of foreign liquor stocked illegally were recovered from the servant quarters of Russian Information and Cultural Centre at Bhagwan Dass Road," said a senior official of the Excise department.
 

"The total volume of seized liquor is more than 6,000 litres. The liquor cartons were stocked without paying taxes," said the official.

One person has been arrested and a case has been registered at Tilak Marg Police station under relevant section of the Delhi Excise Act, the official said.

The EIB, under Excise Department, has intensified its efforts to contain irregularities in transaction of foreign liquor.
