As many as 49.15 percent of 90,676 electors cast their votes in Shiromani Gurdwara Pranbhanak Committee (SGPC) elections in Jammu District today.
"In all 44,564 electors cast their votes in Shiromani Gurdwara Pranbhanak Committee (SGPC) elections in Jammu District today, which accounts for 49.15 per cent of the total votes of 90,676", an official spokesman said.
The highest poll turnout of 69.76 per cent was registered in Akhnoor where 3499 votes out of 5,016 were polled, he said.

This was followed by Gadi Garh where 7525 voters (61.17 per cent) out of 12,302 cast their votes, Darsopur 4,887 (57.91 pc) out of 8,439; R. S Pura 4,200 (57.25 pc) out of 7,336; Bishnah 2,952 (56.39 pc) out of 5,235; Kirpind 4453 (53.61 pc) out of 8,306; Gole Gujral, 4,236 (52.43 pc) out of 8,079; Jammu West 2,703 (43.79 pc) out of 6,172; Jammu East 1,372 (40.20 pc) out of 3,413; Nanak Nagar 4,965 (35.53 pc) out of 13,974 and Digiana 3,772 (30.41 pc ) out 12,404.
While 23,341 male voters cast their votes, the number of females who exercised their right to vote was 21,223, he said.
Over 76 percent voters came out to cast their vote in the elections of members of District Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee, (DGPC) Udhampur in 11 constituencies of the district, he said.
In total, 48 candidates have been left in fray for the District Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (DGPC) elections in district Jammu, he said.
