"Of the 2,643 persons infected from diarrhoea from January to August this year, 44 died due to the disease. They died due to late arrival at hospitals," Rout said in the Assembly.
Similarly, of the 63 persons infected from dengue, two persons from Dhenkanal district died as they were no brought to hospital, the minister said.
Admitting that cholera virus had been detected in the state, the minister said no one has so far died of the water-borne disease.
"We have alerted doctors and all health workers in the state to remain vigilant against diarrhoea, cholera, dengue and malaria with onset of monsoon," the minister said.
