45 beggars arrested in Ajmer city ahead of Prez visit

Ahead of President Pranab Mukherjee's visit to Khwaja Muinuddin Chishti shrine in Ajmer city, 45 persons including beggars have been arrested from the area, police said today.

Police arrested 33 persons from the Dargah area and 12 persons were held in Ganj area yesterday. Most of them are wanderers, beggars and arrested under Section 151 of IPC, they said, adding that the step was taken to clear the city of 'antisocial elements'.

All the arrested persons have been kept in judicial custody, police said.

Mukherjee will address convocations of the Central University of Rajasthan and the IIT Jodhpur during his two-day visit to the state beginning tomorrow.
