45 houses gutted, 300 rendered homeless in fire incidents

Thirty-five dwellings were reduced to ashes in a fire, which broke out in the Jote Cheda village of East Kameng district on Thursday leaving 200 people homeless.

The incident occurred when the villagers were away for work in the fields.

Another fire devoured ten houses in Sangti village near Dirang in West Kameng district critically injuring one in the early hours yesterday.

The injured has been identified as Rinchin Ere, who suffered severe spinal injuries and was rushed to neighbouring Assam for treatment.
