45-year-old woman found murdered

The body of a 45-year-old woman, who had been missing since Thursday, was found in a field at a village in the district, police said today.

Villagers saw the body, later identified as that of Daulati, lying on the field at Harieawala village of Baghapurana in the district yesterday and informed the police, who shifted it to hospital for postmortem.

After preliminary investigation, police suspect that Daulati was strangled to death.

The body also bore injury marks of sharp-edged weapons, said a police officer.

According to police, Daulati had left home on Thursday, telling her husband that she was going to meet their daughter in Faridkot.
 

After she did not return home, her husband Ramesh Kumar, a Home Guard, called his daughter only to be told that Daulati had not visited her, police said.

Police have registered a case of murder against unidentified persons.
