A 45-year-old woman was shot dead this morning allegedly by two motorcycle-borne assailants in outer Delhi's Samaipur Badali area with her estranged husband having been detained in connection with the murder, police said.
According to police, the incident took place when the victim, identified as one Narayani Devi, was sweeping the space outside her home in Samaipur Badali's Yadav Nagar locality.
"Two men arrived on a bike and the pillion rider fired at the woman, hitting her on the shoulder. As the attackers sped away, her younger daughter rushed out hearing the gunshot. Narayani Devi was rushed to a nearby hospital by her neighbours where she succumbed during treatment," police said.

A case of murder has been registered in this regard, police said, adding that their inquiries have revealed that the victim had separated from her husband, Lal Singh.
She was locked in a dispute with Singh over the house in which she was living with her younger daughter. Her elder daughter is married and lives elsewhere, police said.
"After the victim's daughter expressed suspicion about their father's involvement, we detained Singh, who lives in another locality in the same area. He is being questioned," police said.
It has also come to light that the house in which Narayni Devi was living is owned by her husband.
