Four persons have been arrested for allegedly transporting ganja near Bharuch around 180 kms from here, police said.

The four were nabbed on NH-8 on Saturday for transporting 450 kg of ganja in a truck from Odisha, police said adding that the consignment was valued at Rs 1.26 crore.

The arrested have been identified as Kashinath Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Sagar Kumar and Shasikant Dharamdevsinh, all hailing from various districts of Orissa and working as casual labourers in Bharuch.

Ankleshwar police inspector P M Yadav said that the four have been remanded in eight days police custody and their interrogation has revealed that the consignment was meant for one Munna in Surat.

Suspecting it to be the work of an inter-state gang, police have sent teams to Odisha and Surat for further investigation.
