A Thiruvananthapuram-bound train arrived at a station in Kerala's capital with severed head of a woman on its engine after the 46-year-old allegedly committed suicide by jumping before it, police said today.

Unable to arrange money for her daughter's wedding, the woman jumped before the Kannur-Thiruvananthapuram Janashatabdi express on Sunday night, even as the train continued its onward journey towards to Thiruvananthapuram railway station with her body part, police said.

The railway authorities launched a search operation for the rest of the body parts of the woman.

They were informed that her other body parts, including her hands, were found on the tracks at Eravipuram rail track at Kollam, police said.

The woman had been struggling to raise money for her second daughter's wedding. However, she decided to end her life after failing to arrange the required funds, the victim's relatives said.
