48 teams to participate in 3-day Kho Kho tournament in Thane

A total of 48 teams from 24 districts of Maharashtra will participate in the Kho Kho Mayor Trophy to be held here from December 8 onwards, Thane Mayor Sanjay More said today.

Addressing a press conference, More said that both men and women teams will take part in the three-day competition.

Along side the tournament, state selection of teams will also take place, he said.

The total prize money for the event is Rs 4.32 lakh. First prize will be of Rs 70,000, second Rs 45,000 and third of Rs 35,000, the Mayor added.

Teams from Sangli, Mumbai, Thane, Mumbai Suburban, Pune, Osmanabad, Solapur, Nashik, Ratnagiri, Nandurbar, Dhule, Ahmednagar, Raigadh, Jalgaon, Hingoli, Satara, Sindhudurgh, Beed, Aurangabad, Nanded, Parbhani, Jalna, Latur and Palghar will participate in the competition.
 

Replying to a query, More said that sport policy for Thane was almost ready and would be finalised and implemented in coming months.
