49 arrested from Raj village; arms, liquor seized

Police today arrested 49 persons from Tasai village in Alwar district of Rajasthan and seized firearms, live cartridges and liquor from them.

The district police led by SP Vikas Kumar conducted a raid in the wee hours and nabbed the criminals.

"After a ten-day long planning, the action was planned. Several teams were formed for intelligence collection, surveillance, checking and documentation, identification of criminals and others. After briefing, the raid was launched at 4 am and the criminals were arrested," the SP said.

Ten firearms, 113 live cartridges, stolen motorcycles and liquor in huge quantity were seized.

Police said the criminals used to run illegal arms factories, make liquor, keep stolen vehicles and indulge in criminal activities in the village with the help of locals.
 

Villagers used to attack police whenever any police team entered the area, the SP said.
