A record number of 4,969 cases were settled under the limits of the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate here during the National Lok Adalat conducted simultaneously by Supreme Court across the country.

"A total of 4,969 cases were settled on December 6 in the courts by appearance of both the parties to amicably settle their disputes and reach a compromise and thus Cyberabad Police attained the top rank in the country in utilising the National Lok Adalat," Additional DCP (Cyberabad Crime Branch) B Srinivas Reddy said.

Out of 4,969 cases, 1,250 were Under Investigation (UI) cases, while 3,719 are Pending Trial (PT) cases which have been compounded and removed from the pendency list of the cyberabad commissionerate police records and also from the records of the courts concerned, a release said today.

In the previous Lok Adalat, only 257 willing parties had settled their cases. "This time all the SHOs, Assistant Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners of Police took active part and brought great awareness about Lok Adalat.

"The efforts of SHOs, court HC/PCs coupled with the guidance of court and cooperation of police friendly and well meaning people led to these results," the release said, adding that the co-ordination between police and judiciary made the National Lok Adalat a grand success and the same practice will be continued in future.
