5.6 quake rattles Peru's capital without damage

A light-to-moderate earthquake centered in the ocean south of Lima rattled Peru's capital. No injuries or damage was reported.

The tremor struck yesterday at 7:18 pm local time.

The 5.6 magnitude was centered 48 miles (78 kilometers) south-southeast of Lima and was 28 miles (45 kilometers) deep, the US Geological Survey reported.
