An international aid group says five local staff in Afghanistan who were abducted last month have been killed.
Save the Children says it was informed today that the five men had been killed. It says they were abducted in the southern Uruzgan province, without providing further details.
Dost Mohammad Nayab, spokesman for the governor of Uruzgan, says the five were abducted around 40 days ago and that the government refused their captors' demands for a prisoner exchange.
He says their bodies were found today, and that they had been shot dead. He did not say who captured the aid workers.
