Police today arrested five persons, suspected to be sand mafia members, for attacking a team led by a woman mining official and injuring three home guards.
The arrested miscreants were identified as Devraj, Arjun, Rajesh, Pintu and Arjun-- all residents of Banka Khedi village, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Surendra Nagar told reporters.
A case was registered against 21 persons for attacking the team under relevant sections of the IPC at the Akodia Police station in this regard.

The suspected sand mafia yesterday attacked a team of mining officials led by mining inspector Reena Pathak, which went to check illegal excavation of sand from Nevaj river near Banka Khedi village under Akodia police station in the district.
The team was alerted about illegal mining following a complaint on the Chief Minister's helpline after which it conducted a raid on the banks of Nevaj river and found five tractor-trolleys illegally mining sand from the river.
Soon after spotting the team, sand mafia members attacked the mining officials team by pelting stones and hitting them with sticks, causing injuries to three home guard jawans identified as Manohar Rathore, Badrilal and Radheshyam.
