5 arrested in connection with vandalism at IAS officer's house

A fifth person was today arrested in connection with the alleged vandalism at the official residence of the chief minister's private secretary V Karthikeyan Pandian here on Saturday, police said.

The accused, identified as Balaram Khuntia alias Balia, was arrested by the Commissionerate of Police from Sarakantara area here.

According to the police, Balia was among the group of people who had barged into Pandian's official residence, damaged vehicles and flower pots and hurled cow dung at the main gate.

Four persons were arrested from the spot on Saturday and raids were on to arrest others involved in the incident, the police said.
 

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has said that appropriate action would be taken against the persons involved in the attack.

Patnaik gave the assurance to the government employees organisations when they met him yesterday.
